OKLAHOMA PRISON BOOKS COLLECTIVE
Why We Do It
Reading can decrease stress, increase empathy, educate, entertain, be an escape, and help with communication and concentration.

Prisoners have little access to reading materials, especially during lock-downs and in particular since COVID. Also, prisons inflate the cost of every necessity. Books can only be sent through a distributor and the rates are high.

We are happy to be considered a book distributor to get people the books they want while inside. We are a mutual aid organization—our mission is simple and all funds go to books and postage.

If You Are Free
• Donate your favorite books to one of our drop off spots. Soft cover will be distributed to people inside. Hard cover will be traded for soft covers at one of our bookstore partners
Donate money for books. Even $5 buys a reading book or 3 puzzle/activity books
Volunteer to write letters, sort books, or drive books to prisons (saves us shipping)
Thank our bookstore partners!

If You Are Locked Up in Oklahoma
• Send a letter to PO Box 52255, Tulsa, OK. Let us know your preferred genres/topics. Make sure to give us your DOJ #. Multiple people per letter is great. We’d love for you to save paper and stamps.
